CAMP SIGO,  Mandeville, Jamaica

SIGO partnered with Belair School and the Salvation Army in Mandeville, Jamaica to host a math camp during the week of July 18th, 2011.   Over 45 students attended Camp SIGO with the majority of the students coming from Hanbury Home, run by the Salvation Army.  The campers participated in math problem solving activities tailored to their different levels.  In addition, they participated in science learning activities and friendly team competition.   The teams also enjoyed demonstrating what it means to be a committed student through short skits and role playing.

Through a video tournament fundraising event and the generous support of donors, SIGO was able to cover the cost of attending camp for each student.   SIGO also delivered donated academic supplies and books to Hanbury Home.  All raised funds and supplies went directly to support the campers.  SIGO counselors covered their own individual expenses including airfare, transportation and living.
